  1. THE ADVENTURES OF S/V SERENITY AND HER CREW: Whale of a time in Tonga

    SailBlogs &bull Yesterday

We have had numerous requests to postsome of our pics from our encounter with a new-born and mama humpback whales. We have been back and forth to the Giggling Whale, where Sandy and his wife Cathy, the owners are fun and very entertaining if you are interested in some conversation regarding the islands, the foods, and the customs. Don't miss their hamburger and beer special at lunchtime. Sandy is also very yachtie friendly and will help with LP and fuel… Full Story »

  4. We have all the time in the world: Trapped by a large Cat!!

    SailBlogs &bull Sep 5, 2010

We dinghied into the marina and tied up to a pontoon. When we returned a very large Catamaran had moored with our dinghy right in the middle of its stern. Stu had to crawl along the underneath of the Cat so we could get it out. After spending 3 nights in Porto Santo, which was a lovely place, but due to the fact that the marina/anchorage was a 2 mile round trip to any sign of life supermarket we decided to go onto Madeira itself. We left on Tuesday to good winds… Full Story »

    Handley Sail &bull Sep 5, 2010

At 8 am Bruce and Tristen of Pioneer picked us up in their dinghy and delivered us to Pioneer. Mark and Nadine brought the anchor up and off we went. It is only three miles to Nosy Ankarea so we were there and anchored by 9 am. The water was so incredibly clear and beckoned us to jump in. As fast as we could, we all got suited up and in the water. Pioneer is a catamaran and… Full Story »

  11. Lil' Kahuna: Besh Wishes to East Coast Sailors

My prayers go out to all the sailors on the east coast currently facing the cone of Hurricane Earl. Some very tough decisions are being made right now or need to made soon, and I wish you all the best. I know this is one reality all sailors must face someday or have faced several times already, and there is plenty of good advise out there so heed the warnings. Its better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck! Ever daydream? I day dream frequently thinking about where I'd rather be when I'm a boring or stressful place. While in… Full Story »
