SAILING AWAY ON ZEPHYR: Happy Sailors
SailBlogs &bull Yesterday
The weather window looks good and we're ready to jump! We left Boca Chita Naval Air Station and our beloved happy hour/laundry day early this morning. We received the royal sendoff of the conch shells. The night before, the warm weather brought out the cruisers at the marina in full fun force and we finally had an opportunity to meet some of the really cool people at the marina. Wow, such a wonderful sailing love story. After filling our tanks they offered us the fuel dock for the night without charge! And, with a 25 gallon fuel purchase you get… Full Story »

Grace, Kevin, and Debbie Sailing Together: ...Surprise!...Go!
SailBlogs &bull Mar 8, 2010
The engine part we were waiting for arrived two days ago. It was promptly installed by Captain Kevin and the engine ran like a champ. Thank you Dick Day! Earlier that same day we learned that McCotter's pump out cart was broken and the parts for it would not arrive until sometime early next week. So, we promptly began exploring options at other locations. After two days of phone calls and road trips, we learned there were no other possible pump outs within two days of travel with the boat. When we retired for the evening last night, we expected… Full Story »

Sailing the Pacific: 1 Day Until Departure
SailBlogs &bull Feb 18, 2010
We have been busy little ants this week, collecting food and carrying it back to our heap. And Algebra lessons. Yes. Some documentaries about the Universe (given to us by our friends Andrew and Elenora) have made me interested in maths as the language of science. Yesterday we just happened (in the small town of Golfito) to bump into and… Full Story »

Lorelei on the seas: Made it to Mexico
SailBlogs &bull Feb 17, 2010
We left the security, warmth and comfort of Lagoon Marina, La Ceiba Honduras, on Saturday (13 February 2010). The mouth of La Ceiba harbor was a toughie - breaking waves and strong current through a relatively small channel. But our fearless captain and crew had faith, and we finally were clear of the jetties. Our goal was Isla Mujeres. The wind and waves caused us to tack 4 times just to clear Utila. We could have stopped, but would have been stuck in East Harbour for days. Onward! Once we got past the Bay Islands, we could head off the… Full Story »
