The birth of a Race Officer
All Day I Dream About Sailing &bull Jul 5, 2010
Everyone needs to find an escape, something that takes them away from the everyday life. Sailing is mine. There really is nothing quite like messing about in boats. OK so I am down on the duty roster to be RO on the 14th July and I have never done it before; I've been on the team, helped with the flags, timings and processed the results many a… Full Story »

All Day I Dream About Sailing &bull Jan 14, 2010
This Christmas my eldest daughter, Emma (otherwise know as DLP), gave me a copy of Ben Ainslie's autobiography and it is a good read. I am not a great one for reading just for the fun of reading but every now and then a book really grabs… Full Story »

Last of the Norfolk Summer wine
All Day I Dream About Sailing &bull Sep 1, 2009
The day finally came - the day I knew was inevitable - the day I would leave Snettisham Beach Sailing club for waters new and uncharted (by me at least). The day marked the end of an era and the last summer of racing on the Norfolk coast, from now on I will be a visitor when I return, and I will return! The reason for this sad day is our move of home to North Yorkshire, just east of Leeds in a… Full Story »

Video of Enterprise racing
All Day I Dream About Sailing &bull Aug 27, 2009
A decent bit of video of Enterprise racing. Lots of leasons to learn through just watching. Look at the mark roundings, spot the good ones and the rubbish ones. Look at the effects of heeling and see the leeway slip… Full Story »

All Day I Dream About Sailing &bull Jul 21, 2009
I went out. I came back. It was too windy and I didn't want to risk breaking anything. So I stood on the shore and took pictures of the unfolding drama. Full Story »
